letter on birthday

❤️ A Birthday Thank You to the Woman Who Helped Me Stand Again

Dear Bhori Tai,

Today is your birthday, and I wanted to write something for you not just say “Happy Birthday” and move on.
Some people enter our lives through relationships.
And then there are people who become family because of the way they show up when life gets difficult.
You are that person for me.
When I broke my foot, I had two small children, I couldn’t walk properly, and suddenly even the simplest things felt impossible. I was scared, helpless, frustrated and constantly worried that I was becoming a burden to everyone around me.
But you never made me feel like one.
You simply said, “Come stay at my home. I’ll handle everything.”
And you did.
For almost a month, you took care of me and my children. You bathed my kids, cleaned their potty, cooked for everyone, washed clothes and dishes, helped me when I couldn’t stand, and somehow kept going even when you were exhausted yourself.
I kept thinking, “I am troubling her so much.”
You kept telling me, “You are stupid. Don’t think so much.” 😂❤️
That is so you.
You were there during both my deliveries.
You were there when I broke my foot.
And every time life made me feel alone, somehow, you showed up.
Sometimes I feel my parents chose society over me, but God sent someone who always chose me whenever I was in the toughest situations.
You were family by relation, Bhori Tai… but you became my friend by heart. ❤️
Thank you for choosing me.
Thank you for caring for me.
Thank you for scolding me when I was wrong.
Thank you for listening to me cry.
Thank you for reminding me that I shouldn’t spend my whole life waiting for someone else to make me happy.
And thank you for reminding me to live my life for myself.
I don’t know whether I will ever be able to repay everything you did for me.
But I hope you always know this:
I remember.
I remember your shoulder when I couldn’t walk.
I remember you helping me get up.
I remember you taking care of my children.
I remember you telling me I would walk normally again when I was terrified that I wouldn’t.
And I remember how you never allowed me to believe that I was a burden.
Maybe that is why this birthday feels different to me.
I am not just wishing you another year of happiness.
I am thanking God for putting you in my life.
Happy Birthday, Bhori Tai. 🥹❤️
May life give you back even a little of the love, care and kindness you have given to me and so many others.
You helped me stand when I couldn’t stand on my own.
And I will always carry that gratitude in my heart.
Love you, Tai. ❤️
